

Rebecca Dunning
Dr. Rebecca Dunning is laying the groundwork for future advancements in agricultural education and mentorship at the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, North Carolina State University. As the Director of the FFAR Fellows National Leadership Program and the CALS Peer Mentorship Program, she plays a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of leaders in food and agricultural sciences. Dr. Dunning mentors cohorts of 30 doctoral students from universities across the United States and Canada, offering them individual and cohort training and development opportunities. In addition to her work with doctoral students, Dr. Dunning is dedicated to enhancing the mentorship skills of NC State faculty through specialized workshops. Her leadership extends to the CALS Graduate Peer Mentor Program, where she fosters a supportive community for graduate students. Her educational background includes a master's degree in agricultural economics from Auburn University and a doctorate in sociology from Duke University, which equip her with a unique interdisciplinary perspective. Dr. Dunning's commitment to mentorship is driven by her belief in the reciprocal nature of learning. She continuously gains insights and inspiration from the graduate students she serves, viewing each interaction as an opportunity for mutual growth.
