Lenin Arturo Villamizar-

Passionate about exploring solutions for complex dental and oral health challenges in animals, Dr. Lenin Arturo Villamizar-Martinez serves as an Assistant Professor in Dentistry and Oral Surgery at the College of Veterinary Medicine, North Carolina State University. As a Diplomate of the American Veterinary Dental College, he brings a wealth of expertise and dedication to his role as the director of the Dentistry and Oral Surgery Residency Program. Dr. Villamizar's research interests are deeply rooted in the fields of maxillofacial trauma, oncology surgery, and diagnostic imaging, with a particular focus on the dental and maxillofacial structures and the temporomandibular joint. His work aims to advance the understanding and treatment of these complex conditions, contributing significantly to veterinary medicine. He began his academic journey by earning his veterinary degree from De La Salle University in Bogotá, Colombia. Driven by a commitment to furthering his knowledge and skills, Dr. Villamizar pursued advanced studies at the Veterinary and Animal Science School of the University of São Paulo, where he obtained both a master's degree and a Ph.D. Throughout his career, Dr. Villamizar has been dedicated to the education and mentorship of future veterinarians. His leadership in the residency program is marked by a commitment to fostering a learning environment that encourages innovation and excellence in veterinary dentistry and oral surgery. In addition to his academic and research pursuits, Dr. Villamizar is actively involved in professional organizations and continues to contribute to the field through publications and presentations at national and international conferences.
