Dr. Kathryn Votapek is pioneering research in the field of violin performance and chamber music, bringing her extensive experience and passion to the School of Music, Theatre and Dance at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. As a distinguished violinist, she has carved a niche for herself as both a soloist and a sought-after guest artist at numerous chamber music festivals. Her illustrious career includes a significant tenure of 15 years with the Chester String Quartet, during which she contributed to various commissioning projects that have enriched the chamber music repertoire. In addition to her solo endeavors, Dr. Votapek has been an integral part of the Votapek Trio, showcasing her versatility and collaborative spirit. Her musical journey is further enriched by her duo performances with her husband, Aaron Berofsky, a fellow violinist, which have been well-received by audiences and critics alike. Her commitment to music education is evident through her faculty positions at prestigious institutions such as the Chautauqua Institution, the University of Michigan, and Indiana University – South Bend.
