Hom-Lay Wang

Building frameworks for better understanding of periodontal and implant-related defects, Hom-Lay Wang serves as a distinguished Professor of Periodontics and Dentistry at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. With a career spanning over three decades at the university, he has made significant contributions to the fields of guided tissue and bone regeneration, as well as oral plastic surgery. Since joining the University of Michigan in 1989, Professor Wang has been at the forefront of periodontal research and education. His dedication to advancing dental science and improving patient care has earned him numerous accolades for both his research and teaching endeavors. In 1995, he took on the role of Director of Graduate Periodontics, where he has been instrumental in shaping the next generation of dental professionals. Professor Wang's research interests are deeply rooted in understanding and addressing periodontal and implant-related defects. His work in guided tissue and bone regeneration has paved the way for innovative treatments that enhance oral health outcomes. Through his leadership and expertise, he continues to inspire students and colleagues alike, fostering a collaborative environment that pushes the boundaries of dental research and practice.
