Dr. Amir M. Emtiaz is shaping the future of lung transplant medicine through his pioneering work in immunology and patient care. As an Associate Professor of Medicine and the Medical Director of the Lung Transplant Program at the University of Florida, Dr. Emtiaz combines his extensive clinical expertise with cutting-edge research to improve outcomes for transplant recipients. He earned his M.D. from Tehran University of Medical Sciences, where he laid the foundation for his career in medicine. Dr. Emtiaz further honed his skills during his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF)-Fresno, followed by a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine. These formative experiences equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of both the clinical and research aspects of pulmonary medicine. Dr. Emtiaz's research is primarily focused on lung transplant immunology, with a particular interest in the mechanisms of humoral immunity and its impact on Primary Graft Dysfunction and allograft dysfunction following lung transplantation.
