Tammy Chung

Professor Tammy Chung is recognized for excellence in the field of psychiatry and behavioral health, with a distinguished career dedicated to advancing our understanding of adolescent and young adult substance use. As a Professor of Psychiatry and the Director of the Center for Population Behavioral Health at Rutgers University, she has made significant contributions to the study of substance use, focusing on assessment, diagnosis, clinical course, and intervention strategies. Dr. Chung's innovative research employs mobile technology to enhance the assessment and intervention of substance use, providing new avenues for effective treatment and prevention. Her work also delves into the critical issue of racial disparities, examining the differential risks associated with substance use and sexually transmitted infections, including HIV, among diverse populations. With a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Rutgers University, obtained in 1998, Dr. Chung has built a robust academic and research career.
