Stuart H. Altman

Dr. Stuart H. Altman is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health. With a distinguished career in health policy, Dr. Altman has made significant contributions to both federal and state health policy frameworks. His research interests span national health insurance, healthcare systems, and Medicare, reflecting his deep commitment to improving health policy. Dr. Altman's extensive experience includes serving as Co-Chair for the Legislative Health Care Task Force for Massachusetts, where he played a pivotal role in shaping state health policy. His expertise was further recognized when he was appointed to the National Bipartisan Commission on the Future of Medicare, a testament to his influence in federal health policy. Additionally, he chaired the Medicare Prospective Payment Assessment Commission, where he contributed to the development of payment systems that have had a lasting impact on healthcare delivery.
