Christine Winston

Dr. Christine Winston has a longstanding interest in the field of social work, particularly in clinical practice and mental health. She is an Assistant Professor of Instruction at the Steve Hicks School of Social Work at the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Winston earned her Master's degree in Social Work from the UT School of Social Work, further advancing her expertise with a Post-Master's Program in Advanced Clinical Practice from the NYU School of Social Work. Before joining the academic community, Dr. Winston gained extensive experience as a clinical social worker. Her career includes significant roles at Austin State Hospital and SafePlace, where she honed her skills in providing care and support to individuals facing mental health challenges. Additionally, she served as the clinical director for a New York City housing program, focusing on the Seriously Persistently Mentally Ill/Homeless population, a role that underscored her commitment to addressing complex social issues. In her current practice, Dr. Winston specializes in psychotherapy, working with adults and couples to navigate personal and relational challenges. Her approach is informed by her rich clinical background and her dedication to fostering mental well-being.
