Dr. Charles Alan Wright is expanding horizons in the field of federal courts and constitutional law at the School of Law, The University of Texas at Austin. A distinguished figure in legal academia, Dr. Wright's contributions extend beyond the classroom and into the realm of sports, where he has left an indelible mark as the coach of the University of Texas School of Law's intramural football team, the Legal Eagles, for an impressive 45 years. Joining the law school faculty in 1955, Dr. Wright quickly became a pivotal figure, not only for his legal expertise but also for his dedication to the Legal Eagles. Under his leadership, the team achieved an extraordinary record of 330 wins, 44 losses, and 5 ties. His coaching style, characterized by strict discipline and a rigorous practice schedule, was instrumental in instilling the values of sportsmanship and a winning mentality in his players. Throughout his tenure, the Legal Eagles soared to remarkable heights, clinching 27 of 35 Law-Grad Division championships and 7 of 14 All-University Championships. Dr. Wright's unwavering enthusiasm for the team was evident, even as he balanced his academic responsibilities with visiting professorships and his role as an advisor to President Nixon during the Watergate scandal.
