Carlos M. Mery

Dr. Carlos M. Mery's projects emphasize collaborative solutions for improving clinical outcomes and advancing medical technology in the field of congenital heart disease. As an Associate Professor in Surgery, Perioperative Care, and Pediatrics at UT Health Austin and Dell Medical School, Dr. Mery is dedicated to the management and treatment of both children and adults with congenital heart conditions. His extensive training includes a medical degree from Tecnológico De Monterrey in Mexico, followed by residencies and a fellowship in general surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, and congenital heart surgery. Dr. Mery is board-certified in surgery, thoracic and cardiac surgery, as well as congenital cardiac surgery, showcasing his comprehensive expertise in these areas. His research interests lie primarily in clinical outcomes research and the early development of medical technology, where he seeks to innovate and improve patient care through evidence-based practices and cutting-edge technology. In addition to his academic and clinical roles, Dr. Mery serves as the Associate Chief of Pediatric & Congenital Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Texas Center for Pediatric & Congenital Heart Disease. In this capacity, he leads efforts to enhance surgical techniques and patient outcomes, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide the highest standard of care. Dr. Mery's commitment to education and research is evident in his numerous contributions to the field, including publications and presentations at national and international conferences.
