Sebastian Souyris

Professor Sebastian Souyris is an active researcher in the fields of environmental and human sustainability, with a focus on leveraging machine learning, data-driven optimization, and econometrics to address complex challenges. As an Assistant Professor of Supply Chain and Analytics at the Lally School of Management at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, he is dedicated to advancing the understanding and application of these methodologies in sustainable practices. Professor Souyris completed his Ph.D. at The University of Texas at Austin in 2019, where he developed a strong foundation in analytical techniques and their applications to sustainability issues. His academic journey has been marked by a commitment to integrating automation and analytics into supply chain management, aiming to enhance efficiency and sustainability in various industries. In recognition of his contributions to the field, Professor Souyris has been honored with several prestigious awards. He is a recipient of the INFORMS Franz Edelman Laureate, a testament to his impactful research and practical applications. Additionally, he was a finalist for the EURO Excellence in Practice Award and won the INFORMS Revenue Management and Pricing Practice Award, highlighting his innovative approaches to revenue management and pricing strategies. At Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Professor Souyris holds the Dean R. Wellington '83 (Junior) Chair, reflecting his leadership and expertise in the academic community.
