Asim Farid

Blending theory and practice to improve surgical outcomes, Dr. Asim Farid serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor (Voluntary) in the Department of Surgery, Community at UR Medicine. With a specialized focus on colorectal surgery, Dr. Farid brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his role, having completed a prestigious fellowship at the Henry Ford Health System. Dr. Farid's journey in medicine began in Pakistan, where he graduated from medical school in 1984. His pursuit of surgical excellence led him to England, where he underwent rigorous surgical training and earned the distinguished title of Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. This international experience laid a strong foundation for his subsequent career in the United States. In 1991, Dr. Farid relocated to the USA, where he further honed his skills by completing a residency in general surgery at Robert Packer Hospital. His dedication to advancing surgical techniques and improving patient care is evident in his commitment to both his practice and his teaching responsibilities at the University of Rochester. Dr. Farid's contributions to the field of colorectal surgery are complemented by his active involvement in the academic community, where he shares his knowledge and experience with the next generation of surgeons.
