Rick Spielman
Rick Spielman brings a wealth of experience in the field of physics, particularly in high-voltage pulsed-power design and engineering. As a Senior Scientist and Professor (Research) of Physics at the University of Rochester, he has dedicated his career to advancing our understanding of complex physical phenomena. Rick earned his Ph.D. in Plasma Physics from the University of California, Davis, in 1978, laying the foundation for his distinguished career in academia and research. His research interests are diverse, encompassing particle-in, vacuum power flow, circuit modeling, and hydrodynamic modeling of hypersonic flows. Rick's expertise in these areas has made him a pivotal figure in the design and development of cutting-edge technologies. He is currently leading the design effort for Omega Z, a project that promises to push the boundaries of current scientific capabilities. In collaboration with Sandia National Laboratories, Rick is also involved in the design of the refurbished Saturn accelerator and the next-generation pulsed-power facility (NGPPF). His work in these projects highlights his commitment to advancing the field of pulsed-power technology and its applications.
