Atul Chopra

Recognized as a leader in the field of physiology and biophysics, Dr. Atul Chopra serves as an Associate Professor at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He also holds the position of Associate Director of the Rare Disease Program at the Harrington Discovery Institute, University Hospitals Cleveland. Dr. Chopra's academic journey began with an MD from the Maharashtra Institute Of Medical Education And Research (MIMER) in Pune, India, followed by a PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Chopra's research is at the forefront of understanding asprosin biology, a hormone with significant implications for human health. His work delves into the synthesis and secretion of asprosin, exploring its role in blood dynamics and its interactions with central nervous system (CNS) and hepatic receptors. By manipulating these pathways, Dr. Chopra aims to develop innovative treatments for various diseases, particularly those related to metabolic and rare disorders. His contributions to the field have been recognized through numerous publications and collaborations with leading scientists worldwide. Dr. Chopra's research not only enhances our understanding of asprosin but also opens new avenues for therapeutic interventions in conditions where traditional treatments have been limited. In addition to his research, Dr. Chopra is committed to mentoring the next generation of scientists, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment within his laboratory. His dedication to both research and education underscores his role as a pivotal figure in advancing the field of physiology and biophysics.
