Maximilian T. Schuster is an esteemed Associate Chair and Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Foundations, Organizations, and Policy at the University of Pittsburgh. With a robust academic background and a commitment to advancing higher education, he plays a pivotal role in shaping the minds of future educators and leaders. Dr. Schuster is actively involved in teaching master's and doctoral-level courses in higher education and student affairs, where he imparts his extensive knowledge and experience to his students. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Dr. Schuster coordinates the MEd program in Higher Education, ensuring that the curriculum remains relevant and impactful. His affiliation with the Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies program highlights his dedication to interdisciplinary approaches and his commitment to fostering inclusive educational environments. Before joining the faculty at the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Schuster accumulated seven years of professional experience in student affairs, where he worked in residence life and student life offices. This practical experience has greatly informed his teaching and research, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities within higher education. Dr. Schuster's research is centered on the experiences of college students with minoritized identities, a field in which he has made significant contributions. Dr. Schuster's academic journey began with a BA in English and French from Washington & Jefferson College, where he developed a strong foundation in the humanities. He then pursued an MEd in Higher Education Management and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Management, both from the University of Pittsburgh.
