

Phillip Wagner
Blending theory and practice to improve organizational dynamics, Phillip Wagner serves as a Clinical Associate Professor of Organizational Behavior at the Mason School of Business, William & Mary. With a keen focus on diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, he is committed to fostering environments where all individuals can thrive. Phillip earned his Ph.D. from the University of Kansas, where he honed his expertise in organizational communication and leadership. Before joining William & Mary, Phillip held significant leadership roles in higher education. He was the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and the Chair of the Chancellor's Advisory Council on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the University of South Florida-Sarasota. In these roles, he was instrumental in shaping policies and initiatives that promoted inclusive excellence across the campus. At William & Mary, Phillip teaches a variety of management communication courses, with a particular emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion leadership. His courses are designed to equip students with the skills necessary to navigate and lead in diverse organizational settings. His teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that understanding and embracing diversity is crucial for effective leadership and organizational success. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Phillip is a leader for the Mason School's Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Initiatives. He works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students to develop programs and strategies that enhance the school's commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive community. Phillip's research interests include exploring the intersections of identity in the workplace, organizational democracy, and the role of communication in fostering equitable environments. His work has been published in various academic journals, contributing to the broader discourse on inclusion and organizational behavior. Outside of academia, Phillip is an active participant in community initiatives focused on promoting social justice and equity. His dedication to these causes is reflected in both his professional endeavors and personal commitments, making him a respected figure in the field of organizational behavior.
