A driving force in studies related to social determinants of health and violence prevention, Jeanie Santaularia is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at the University of Washington. Her interdisciplinary approach to population health research has made significant contributions to the fields of social epidemiology and health equity. With a keen focus on analytical methods for obtaining causal estimates, Dr. Santaularia's work seeks to unravel the complex interactions between social factors and health outcomes. Before her tenure at the University of Washington, Dr. Santaularia honed her expertise as a Postdoctoral Scholar in Population Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her academic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts in Human Biology from the University of Kansas, followed by a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She further advanced her research skills by earning a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Santaularia's research is particularly focused on understanding how social and institutional determinants can influence the prevalence and impact of violence, and how such violence, in turn, affects health outcomes.
