Professor with a strong background in family medicine and community health, Dr. William Michael serves as an Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Department of Family Medicine and Community Health. His academic journey began at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago, where he earned his medical degree. Following this, he completed his residency at Puget Sound Family Medicine in Washington, which laid the foundation for his extensive career in family medicine. Dr. Michael's professional journey is uniquely enriched by his service in the United States Marine Corps and the US Navy. During his time in the military, he practiced full-scope family medicine, gaining invaluable experience that he now brings to his academic and clinical roles. His military background has instilled in him a disciplined approach to medicine and a deep understanding of the diverse needs of patients. His research interests are centered around mental health care within primary care settings and the dynamics between specialists and primary care physicians.
