

Richard Jasnow
Professor Richard Jasnow, a distinguished scholar in the field of Egyptology, currently serves as the Chair of the Near Eastern Studies Department at Johns Hopkins University. With a particular focus on the Late Period of Egypt, Professor Jasnow has dedicated his academic career to the study and interpretation of Demotic Egyptian, a script and language used in ancient Egypt. His expertise is reflected in his extensive research and publications on Demotic literary texts, as well as legal and economic documents from this fascinating era. Before joining Johns Hopkins University, Professor Jasnow enriched his academic and professional experience by teaching at the Institut für Ãgyptologie at Universität Würzburg. His international experience has provided him with a broad perspective on Egyptological studies, further enhancing his research and teaching capabilities. Additionally, he contributed significantly to the field as a senior epigrapher for the Epigraphic Survey of the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago, where he was involved in documenting and analyzing ancient inscriptions.
