Creating value through insights into entrepreneurship and mentoring, Sara Herald is a distinguished adjunct professor at the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland-College Park. An alumna of UMD, she holds an MBA from the same institution, which has been instrumental in shaping her career dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship and guiding young entrepreneurs. Currently, Sara serves as the Director of the Southern Management Leadership Program (SMLP) at UMD. In this role, she is committed to providing comprehensive support to students, encompassing financial, academic, and professional development. Her leadership in this program underscores her dedication to nurturing the next generation of leaders and innovators. Before her current position, Sara was the Director of Venture Development at the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship. Her tenure there was marked by significant contributions to the entrepreneurial ecosystem at UMD, where she played a pivotal role in supporting budding entrepreneurs and facilitating venture growth. Sara's passion for empowering women in business led her to establish the Ladies First initiative, a program designed to encourage and support female entrepreneurship at UMD. This initiative reflects her commitment to creating an inclusive environment where women can thrive and succeed in their entrepreneurial endeavors. Her research interests lie in mentoring and entrepreneurship, areas where she has made substantial contributions through both her academic and professional work.
