Dr. Giovanna Summerfield is a distinguished academic serving as the Castanoli Endowed Professor of Italian and French at Auburn University, where she also holds the position of Associate Dean for Educational Affairs. In her role as Director of Mediterranean Studies, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures. Dr. Summerfield earned her PhD in Romance Languages and Literatures from the University of Florida, a testament to her deep commitment to her field of study. Her research interests are deeply rooted in 18th-century French and Italian literature, with a particular focus on Sicilian writers.
