

Michael Tetreault
Michael Tetreault is a distinguished Teaching Assistant Professor and Percussion Specialist for Large Ensembles at the College of Music, University of Colorado Boulder. His academic journey began with a Bachelor of Music degree from the prestigious Eastman School of Music, followed by a Master of Music from the Royal Academy of Music. These formative experiences laid the foundation for a career marked by both excellence and versatility in the field of percussion. Tetreault's performance career is as impressive as it is diverse. He has graced stages both domestically and internationally, performing with esteemed orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra and the Colorado Symphony. His ability to seamlessly integrate into various musical settings is further evidenced by his collaborations with innovative chamber groups like Roomful of Teeth and Throw Down or Shut Up, showcasing his adaptability and breadth as a musician. Beyond the classical realm, Tetreault has expanded his musical horizons by performing alongside popular artists such as Ben Folds and Diana Krall. This crossover into popular music highlights his versatility and willingness to explore different genres, enriching his teaching and performance repertoire. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Tetreault holds significant positions in the orchestral world. He is the Principal Timpanist for both the Central City Opera and the Fort Collins Symphony. His leadership and expertise are further recognized through his roles as principal and assistant principal percussionist in various philharmonic orchestras, where he continues to contribute to the vibrant musical community.
