Dayne Hutchinson

Dr. Dayne Hutchinson excels in fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for students at American University, where he serves as the Assistant Vice President for Student Engagement and Success. In this role, he oversees six administrative units dedicated to enhancing student life and ensuring a holistic educational experience. His leadership is instrumental in creating programs and initiatives that address the diverse needs of the student body, promoting both academic and personal growth. Before joining American University, Dr. Hutchinson gained extensive experience in student affairs through various roles at Marymount Manhattan College and Nova Southeastern University. His work focused on residence life, diversity and inclusion, and the overall enhancement of student experiences. These positions allowed him to develop a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities within higher education, particularly for underrepresented student populations. In addition to his administrative responsibilities, Dr. Hutchinson is an adjunct faculty member at Nova Southeastern University and Pace University. His teaching focuses on student success strategies and the unique experiences of first-generation Afro-Caribbean students.
