Beth Marks

Dr. Beth Marks is driving progress in the field of health promotion and empowerment for individuals with disabilities. As a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Disability and Human Development at the University of Illinois Chicago, she is at the forefront of initiatives that aim to enhance the quality of life and health outcomes for people with disabilities. Her academic journey is marked by a PhD in Disability Studies, Primary Health Care, and Occupational Health from UIC, complemented by an MSN in Community Health and Occupational Health from the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Marks co-directs the HealthMatters Program, a pioneering initiative that focuses on research and practical applications in health promotion and primary health care for individuals with disabilities. Her work in this area is not only innovative but also deeply impactful, as it seeks to address the unique health challenges faced by this population. Through her leadership, the program has developed numerous resources and strategies that are being implemented across various communities.
