Nicholas Butler
Blending theory and practice to improve patient outcomes, Dr. Nicholas Butler serves as a Clinical Associate Professor of Family Medicine at the University of Iowa. With a robust educational background, he earned his MD from the University of Illinois College of Medicine and complemented his medical expertise with an MBA from Benedictine University. His dedication to family medicine is further evidenced by his certification from the American Board of Family Medicine, along with a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Geriatric Medicine. In his multifaceted role at the University of Iowa, Dr. Butler is the UIHC Population Health Medical Director, where he oversees initiatives aimed at enhancing the health outcomes of diverse populations. He also serves as the Medical Director of the IRL Geriatric Clinic, where he applies his specialized knowledge in geriatric medicine to improve the quality of care for older adults. Additionally, he is the Geriatric Fellowship Director, mentoring the next generation of geriatricians, and the Medical Director of Oaknoll Care Center, where he ensures the delivery of compassionate and comprehensive care to residents. Dr. Butler's research interests are deeply rooted in addressing chronic musculoskeletal pain and mitigating fall risk in older adults. His scholarly contributions include several published articles that explore these critical areas, providing valuable insights into the management and prevention strategies for these conditions.
