Jian Huang investigates challenges and opportunities in the fields of statistical genetics, high-dimensional statistics, survival analysis, and semiparametric inference. As a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science and the Department of Biostatistics at the University of Iowa, he has dedicated his career to advancing the understanding of complex statistical methodologies and their applications. Dr. Huang earned his PhD in Statistics from the University of Washington, Seattle, where he developed a strong foundation in statistical theory and practice. Prior to this, he completed his MS in Mathematical Statistics and his BS in Mathematics at Wuhan University, which equipped him with a robust mathematical background essential for his later research endeavors. Throughout his career, Dr. Huang has made significant contributions to the field through his extensive publications. His work has been featured in prestigious journals such as Bioinformatics, Journal of Multivariate Analysis, IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems, and Statistica Sinica. These publications reflect his deep engagement with both theoretical and applied aspects of statistics. Dr. Huang's research has often focused on the development of innovative statistical methods to address the complexities of high-dimensional data and the intricacies of genetic information. His work in semiparametric inference has provided valuable insights into the flexibility and efficiency of statistical models, while his contributions to survival analysis have enhanced the understanding of time-to-event data.
