Dr. Joyce Chen is an Assistant Professor at the School of Music and Dance at the University of Oregon, specializing in Historical Keyboards. A native of Taiwan, Dr. Chen brings a rich cultural and academic background to her role, having earned a Doctor of Musical Arts in Harpsichord Performance from Stony Brook University. Her academic journey also includes a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley, showcasing her diverse interests and expertise. Before joining the University of Oregon, Dr. Chen held teaching positions at St. Joseph's University, the University of Delaware, and Delaware State University. During her tenure at Delaware State University, she initiated a pioneering pilot program for the HBCU early music access project.
