Dr. George A. Pierce serves as an Associate Professor in Religious Education at Brigham Young University, where he brings a rich tapestry of academic and field experience to his role. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Clearwater Christian College, a Master of Science in Archaeological Information Systems from the University of York, and a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies from Wheaton College. Furthering his academic journey, he earned a PhD in Near Eastern Languages and Cultures from UCLA, which has profoundly shaped his scholarly pursuits. Dr. Pierce's research interests are deeply rooted in the archaeology of the southern Levant, where he explores the intersection of ancient cultures and modern technology. His expertise in computer applications in archaeology has positioned him as a leader in integrating Geographic Information Systems (GIS) into archaeological research. As the lead architect and supervisor of the GIS team for the Tel Shimron Excavations in the Jezreel Valley, Israel, he plays a pivotal role in uncovering and interpreting the historical geography of the Holy Land. His academic career is complemented by extensive fieldwork, having participated in archaeological excavations across diverse locations such as Florida, Scotland, the West Bank, and Israel.
