Viral Jain
Dr. Viral Jain is an esteemed Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), where he combines his passion for medicine with a dedication to advancing pediatric health. He earned his medical degree from MGM Medical College, followed by an internship and residency at Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Jain further honed his expertise through subspecialty training in neonatology and research at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. His research is primarily centered on the Developmental Origins of Health & Disorders, with a keen interest in understanding how environmental exposures and intrauterine inflammation influence long-term health outcomes. Dr. Jain's contributions to this field have been widely recognized, earning him numerous accolades, including the prestigious David G Nathan Research Award from the Society of Pediatric Research. In addition to his research, Dr. Jain is deeply committed to patient advocacy. He founded the NICU Bookworms program, which aims to promote early literacy among newborns in the neonatal intensive care unit. His involvement extends to the AAP Neonatology Journal Club and the Reach Out & Read - NICU initiative, where he works to enhance the care and development of young patients. Dr. Jain's work is characterized by a blend of clinical excellence and innovative research, making significant strides in understanding the early determinants of health. His efforts not only contribute to the academic community but also have a tangible impact on the lives of children and their families. Outside of his professional commitments, Dr. Jain is known for his collaborative spirit and dedication to mentoring the next generation of pediatricians and researchers.
