Megan Hays

Dr. Megan Hays is a distinguished Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. With a robust academic background, she earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, complemented by a Bachelor of Arts in both Psychology and Romance Languages. Her diverse educational foundation has equipped her with a unique perspective in her field. Dr. Hays' clinical expertise is centered on the assessment and treatment of adults experiencing medical trauma, including fractures, burns, and amputations. Her practice also extends to addressing peripheral weakness resulting from various medical conditions. Her comprehensive approach to patient care is underscored by her dedication to treating adjustment disorders, depression, anxiety, substance use disorders, and trauma- and stressor-related disorders. Since 2020, Dr. Hays has been an integral part of the UAB Medicine Office of Wellness and Professional Development. In this role, she provides invaluable wellness services, coaching, and stress management skills to a diverse group of individuals, including faculty, medical students, residents, and advanced practice providers.
