Crystal Hepp
Professor Crystal Hepp is known for her significant contributions to the fields of evolutionary biology and the study of mosquito-borne pathogens. As an Assistant Professor at Northern Arizona University's School of Informatics, Computing, and Cyber Systems, she has dedicated her career to understanding the complexities of pathogen evolution and transmission, particularly in the challenging environments of the Southwest. Her research is at the forefront of combating mosquito-borne diseases, which pose a significant threat to public health. By integrating her expertise in evolutionary biology with cutting-edge informatics and computing techniques, Professor Hepp aims to develop innovative strategies to predict and mitigate the spread of these pathogens. Her work not only advances scientific knowledge but also has practical implications for disease control and prevention. Recently, Professor Hepp's groundbreaking research was recognized with a New Investigator Award grant from the Arizona Biomedical Research Centre. This prestigious grant supports her ongoing efforts to unravel the genetic and ecological factors that influence the evolution and spread of mosquito-borne diseases. Through her research, Professor Hepp continues to contribute to the global fight against infectious diseases, making a lasting impact on both the scientific community and public health initiatives.
