William Vanderburgh

Dr. William Vanderburgh is a distinguished Professor in the Department of Philosophy at California State University, San Bernardino. With roots in Montreal, Canada, he pursued his academic journey in philosophy, culminating in a PhD in Philosophy of Science from the University of Western Ontario. His scholarly path led him to Wichita State University, where he dedicated 13 years to academia, assuming various administrative roles and directing the Honors program before his transition to CSUSB in 2014. Dr. Vanderburgh's intellectual pursuits are deeply entrenched in the history and philosophy of science, with a particular focus on the history of astronomy and physics. His research extends into the philosophy of evidence, where he explores the intricacies of how evidence is interpreted and utilized in scientific discourse. A significant portion of his work is dedicated to the study of David Hume's epistemology, examining the Scottish philosopher's contributions to understanding knowledge and belief.
