His scholarly work is deeply rooted in the exploration of cultural expressions through music, focusing on the rich tapestry of sounds and rhythms that define Latin American and Caribbean musical traditions. Dr. Espinoza Agurto's academic journey is marked by a diverse and comprehensive education. He earned his PhD in Musicology/Ethnomusicology from Boston University, where he honed his skills in analyzing and interpreting the cultural significance of music. Prior to this, he completed an MA in Jazz Studies and Ethnomusicology at the University of York, further expanding his understanding of the global influences on jazz and its cultural contexts.
