William Simson

Professor William Simson is making strides in research on the American South and world history. As a distinguished faculty member at Perimeter College, he serves as the Interim Associate Chair of Social Sciences. Professor Simson's academic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia, followed by a Master of Arts and a Ph.D. from Georgia State University. His scholarly pursuits are deeply rooted in world and American history, with a keen focus on Colonial America, the American South, antiquity, the American political tradition, and American labor history. Since joining Perimeter College in 2000, Professor Simson has been a pivotal figure in the academic community, contributing significantly to the development of the history curriculum. In 2018, he took on the role of History Curriculum Chair, where he has been instrumental in shaping the educational experiences of countless students. His dedication to teaching and curriculum development is matched by his commitment to fostering a vibrant and inclusive campus environment. Beyond his academic responsibilities, Professor Simson is the faculty advisor for the Perimeter College Outdoor Adventure Club, where he encourages students to explore and appreciate the natural world. His passion for community involvement extends to his participation in OurSong, The Atlanta Gay and Lesbian Chorus, where he shares his love for music and supports diversity and inclusion. Professor Simson's research interests are diverse, encompassing the intricate narratives of American history and the broader context of world history. His work delves into the complexities of the American political tradition and labor history, offering valuable insights into the forces that have shaped contemporary society.
