Rick Smith

Dr. Rick Smith is pursuing novel approaches in the field of metalworking, with a particular focus on blacksmithing and forge welding techniques. As a distinguished Professor at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, he has been an integral part of the faculty since 1997. Dr. Smith's academic journey began with an MFA from the same institution in 1992, which laid the foundation for his illustrious career in the arts. Throughout his career, Dr. Smith's work has garnered significant attention, being exhibited both nationally and internationally. His pieces are celebrated for their intricate craftsmanship and innovative design, earning a place in the permanent collection of the Arkansas Arts Center.
