Dr. Tayyeb Ayyoubi is a distinguished Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. With a robust academic and professional background, Dr. Ayyoubi has made significant contributions to the fields of Blood Banking and Transfusion Medicine. He is board-certified by the American Board of Pathology in Hematopathology, Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine, and Clinical & Anatomic Pathology, underscoring his extensive expertise and commitment to excellence in his field. Dr. Ayyoubi's academic journey began at Kabul University, where he graduated in 1986. His pursuit of advanced medical training led him to the United States, where he completed various training programs and held pivotal positions at prestigious institutions such as Nebraska Medical Center, University of Minnesota, and Sanford Health. These experiences have equipped him with a diverse skill set and a comprehensive understanding of pathology and laboratory medicine. From 2009 to 2019, Dr. Ayyoubi served as the Director of Blood Banking/Transfusion Services, Tissue Banking, and Fellowship Training in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine at the University of Louisville. His leadership in these roles was marked by innovation and a commitment to advancing the field through education and research. His work has been instrumental in shaping the next generation of specialists in transfusion medicine. In addition to his roles in the United States, Dr. Ayyoubi expanded his professional reach internationally by serving as the Director of Blood Banks at King Saud University Medical City in Saudi Arabia. This position allowed him to apply his expertise in a global context, further enhancing his understanding of transfusion medicine practices worldwide. Currently, Dr. Ayyoubi holds the position of Chief of Transfusion Medicine Services/Blood Banking and Director of Transfusion Medicine/Blood Bank Fellowship at the University of Louisville. In these roles, he continues to lead efforts in research and education, focusing on improving patient outcomes through innovative transfusion practices.
