John A. Kivus

Dr. John A. Kivus is laying the groundwork for future advancements in dental education and clinical practice as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of New England. Originating from Maine, Dr. Kivus has a rich background in both academic and practical dentistry. He earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1979, following his undergraduate studies at the College of the Holy Cross. After completing his dental education, Dr. Kivus began his career in academia, teaching at Tufts University's Oral Health Services Department. His passion for teaching and mentoring young dental professionals has been a constant throughout his career. However, his desire to apply his skills in a practical setting led him to transition into private practice. In 1979, Dr. Kivus established his first dental practice in Auburn, Maine. His commitment to providing high-quality dental care to his community was evident from the start. In 2004, he relocated his practice to South Portland, where he continued to serve his patients with dedication and expertise. Dr. Kivus's extensive experience in both academic and clinical settings has equipped him with a unique perspective on the evolving field of dentistry. His contributions to the University of New England are invaluable, as he continues to inspire the next generation of dental professionals with his knowledge and passion for the field.
