Celia Arias

Celia Arias has led transformative projects in social work education and practice, bringing a wealth of experience to her role as an Assistant Professor of Practice and Onground MSW Practicum Education Specialist at Simmons University's School of Social Work. With a strong commitment to empowering communities, she has previously contributed significantly at Boston Children's Hospital, where she played a crucial role in assisting families to navigate and access essential resources. Before joining Simmons University, Celia served as a Program Assistant for the Latinx Leadership Initiative at Boston College School of Social Work. During her tenure there, she conducted pivotal research on the barriers faced by immigrant Latino families and explored the state assistance available to Latino elderly populations. Her work has been instrumental in highlighting the challenges and opportunities within these communities, driving policy discussions and advocacy efforts. In her current capacity at Simmons University, Celia is dedicated to enhancing the educational experience of social work students. She is responsible for locating student placements and providing robust academic support as a Field Liaison Advisor. Her efforts ensure that students receive practical, hands-on experience that is integral to their professional development in the field of social work. Celia's passion for social justice and community empowerment is evident in her teaching and mentorship.
