Scott Sexton

Professor with expertise in pharmacy education and substance use disorder, Scott Sexton, PharmD, serves as an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Ferris State University College of Pharmacy. With a robust background in both community and ambulatory pharmacy settings, Dr. Sexton is dedicated to advancing the field through his research and teaching endeavors. Dr. Sexton earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where he developed a strong foundation in pharmaceutical sciences and patient care. To further hone his skills, he completed a PGY1 Community-based Pharmacy Residency Program at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in collaboration with Kroger Pharmacy. This residency provided him with invaluable experience in managing medication therapy and delivering patient-centered care in diverse community settings. His research interests lie primarily in the areas of substance use disorder and pharmacy education. Dr. Sexton is passionate about exploring innovative educational strategies to enhance the training of future pharmacists, particularly in the management and treatment of substance use disorders. His work aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical application, ensuring that pharmacy graduates are well-equipped to address the complex challenges faced by patients with substance use issues.
