Jack R . Gabel
A leader in transformative education for over a decade, Dr. Jack R. Gabel is an Associate Professor of Physics at Creighton University. Since joining the faculty in 2006, Dr. Gabel has been an integral part of both the College of Arts and Sciences and the Graduate School. His dedication to teaching is evident through his diverse course offerings, which include astrophysics, electricity and magnetism, general physics, and astronomy. Dr. Gabel's research is deeply rooted in the field of astrophysics, with a particular emphasis on quasar accretion and outflow processes. His work leverages data from the Hubble Space Telescope and various ground-based observatories to explore these cosmic phenomena. As the director of the Creighton Robotic Telescope Facility, he provides students with hands-on experience in astronomical observations, fostering a practical understanding of the universe. An alumnus of Creighton University, Dr. Gabel furthered his academic journey at The Catholic University of America, where he honed his expertise in physics and astronomy. His commitment to research and education has made significant contributions to the understanding of astrophysical processes, while also inspiring a new generation of scientists. Dr. Gabel's passion for discovery and education is matched by his dedication to mentoring students, guiding them through the complexities of physics and encouraging them to pursue their own research interests. His work not only advances the field of astrophysics but also enriches the academic community at Creighton University.
