Diane Barger is a distinguished clarinetist and the Ron and Carol Cope Professor of Music at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Glenn Korff School of Music. With a profound expertise in woodwind performance, particularly the clarinet, she has established herself as a leading figure in the field. Barger's role as the principal clarinetist of Lincoln's Symphony Orchestra underscores her exceptional talent and dedication to her craft. In addition to her performance career, Barger holds significant leadership positions within the International Clarinet Association, the National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors, and Buffet Crampon. Her commitment to advancing the clarinet community is further exemplified by her founding of the Cornerstone Academy of Clarinet, which serves as a platform for nurturing young talent and promoting excellence in clarinet performance. Barger is an active performer and adjudicator, frequently participating in ClarinetFests® and offering masterclasses and guest artist appearances across the nation. Her academic journey includes a Doctor of Music degree from Florida State University and a Master of Music degree from Northwestern University, which have equipped her with a solid foundation for her illustrious career.
