Rigoberto Guevara
Professor Rigoberto Guevara is a distinguished academic with a robust background in Latin American and Spanish literary studies. As an Associate Professor in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at the University of NebraskaâLincoln, he brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his students and colleagues. His specialization in Latin American Modernist Poetry and Latin American Poetry of Human Rights underscores his commitment to exploring the profound intersections of literature, culture, and social justice. Professor Guevara earned his Ph.D. in Latin American Literature from the University of Arizona, where he developed a deep appreciation for the rich tapestry of Latin American narratives and cultural expressions. His research interests extend to Spanish Poetry, Latin American Culture and History, Applied Linguistics, and Latin American Narrative, reflecting a comprehensive approach to understanding the diverse literary landscapes of the Spanish-speaking world. In addition to his teaching and research responsibilities, Professor Guevara plays an active role in the academic governance at UNL. He serves as a Representative (Senator) to the Academic Senate, where he advocates for the interests and needs of his department and the broader university community. His leadership is further exemplified through his role as Chair of the Graduate Committee, overseeing Graduate Programs in French, German, and Spanish. As the Senior Graduate Advisor of Spanish, Professor Guevara is dedicated to mentoring graduate students, guiding them through their academic journeys, and helping them achieve their scholarly goals.
