CJ Greer is an esteemed member of the School of Music faculty at the University of Nevada-Reno, having joined in 2023 as an Assistant Professor of Voice specializing in Musical Theatre. With a dynamic blend of performance and academia, she has been instrumental in the development of a new musical theatre degree program at the university. Greer's educational background is robust, holding an MFA and MM in Musical Theatre and Classical Performance from Penn State University, as well as a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Illinois. Her extensive performance experience spans Broadway, opera, and international stages, showcasing her versatility and depth as a performer. Currently, she is involved in a Broadway National Tour, further enriching her practical insights into the world of musical theatre. As an instructor, Greer is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of performers through private lessons and workshops that focus on vocal technique, performance skills, and the business aspects of the industry. Greer's research interests are deeply rooted in the healing power of music, and she is actively engaged in interdisciplinary projects that explore the intersection of science and singing. Her innovative approach to vocal performance incorporates techniques from Open Source Forms, Laban, Fitzmaurice, Berry, Rodenburg, and Lessac, aiming to enhance singers' connection to their bodies, breath, and speaking voices. This holistic methodology is designed to redefine traditional expectations of vocal performance. In addition to her academic and performance endeavors, Greer is passionate about the transformative potential of music.
