Dr. Cheryl A. Maes is a distinguished Assistant Professor-in-Residence at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas's School of Nursing. With a robust background as a Family Nurse Practitioner, she has contributed significantly to both academic and clinical settings. Her leadership roles within the institution have been pivotal in shaping nursing education and practice. Dr. Maes's academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from UNLV, culminating in a Ph.D. from the University of Arizona, where she honed her research skills and deepened her understanding of complex health issues. Her research interests are diverse and impactful, focusing on the effects of stress on health, health promotion, and the reduction of health disparities. Dr. Maes is particularly passionate about sexual health and the use of alternative modalities for older adults, areas where she has made significant contributions through her research and practice.
