Aleksandr Smirnov

Creating value through insights into the intricate world of metabolomics, Dr. Aleksandr Smirnov is a Research Assistant Professor in the College of Computing and Informatics at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. With a robust academic foundation, he earned his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Louisiana State University in 2011. Following his doctoral studies, he continued to hone his expertise through postdoctoral research at the same institution, where he began to delve deeply into the realms of bioinformatics and computational biology. Dr. Smirnov's research is primarily centered on metabolomics, with a particular emphasis on the development of sophisticated algorithms and software designed to analyze raw untargeted Mass Spectrometry (MS) data. His innovative approach to data analysis has significantly contributed to the field, enabling more efficient pre-processing of raw MS data and facilitating the tracking and prioritization of unknown compounds.
