Shimon Gibson

Dr. Shimon Gibson is a distinguished Professor of Practice in the History Department at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Born in Britain, he has carved a niche for himself as a leading archaeologist with a profound focus on the Holy Land. His academic journey began at the Institute of Archaeology at University College London, where he honed his skills and developed a deep interest in landscape archaeology, Jerusalem's history and archaeology, and the early periods of Judaism and Christianity. Dr. Gibson's career is marked by numerous excavations and surveys across Israel and Palestine, where he has contributed significantly to the understanding of the region's rich historical tapestry. His scholarly output is impressive, with over 100 research articles and several influential books to his name. Notable among his publications are "Jerusalem in Original Photographs" and "The Final Days of Jesus: The Archaeological Evidence," which have been well-received in academic circles and beyond.
