Rick Cooley

Dr. Rick Cooley brings unique insights into the field of biochemistry and structural biology as a Research Assistant Professor at Oregon State University (OSU). With a solid foundation in biochemistry, Dr. Cooley honed his expertise under the guidance of esteemed mentors Dan Arp and Andy Karplus at OSU. His academic journey led him to collaborate with Ryan Mehl, where he played a pivotal role in establishing the Unnatural Protein Facility, a testament to his innovative approach to scientific research. Following his significant contributions at OSU, Dr. Cooley expanded his research horizons as a post-doctoral fellow at Cornell University. This experience enriched his understanding and further solidified his reputation as a leading researcher in his field. His return to OSU marked a new chapter in his career, where he took on the leadership of one of the Technology Development cores of the GCE4All Research Center. In this role, Dr. Cooley continues to push the boundaries of biochemistry, driving forward the development of cutting-edge technologies and methodologies.
