Redefining the boundaries of what is possible in science education, Dr. Joseph Harsh has been a pivotal figure at James Madison University since 2014. As an Associate Professor and the Associate Director of the HHMI Inclusive Excellence Initiative, Dr. Harsh is committed to fostering an inclusive and dynamic learning environment. His academic journey began with a B.S. in Biology from Indiana University, followed by an M.S. in Botany and Plant Pathology from Michigan State University, culminating in a Ph.D. in Science Education from Indiana University. Dr. Harsh's research is at the forefront of understanding student experiences, performance, and engagement in postsecondary science education. His work delves into the impact of research experiences and the development of data visualization skills, aiming to enhance teaching and learning practices that support a diverse student body. These include Biology, Effective College Teaching, and Life and Environmental Science for Future Teachers.
