

Rachel Henesy
Dr. Rachel Henesy is an advocate for innovation in the field of counseling and counselor education. As an Assistant Clinical Professor in Seattle University's School Counseling program, she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role. Dr. Henesy earned her PhD in Counseling & Counselor Education and an MAE in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Florida, where she honed her skills and developed a deep understanding of the complexities of mental health. Her research interests are diverse and impactful, focusing on LGBTQ+ affirmative counseling, intersectionality, disability justice, complex trauma, and counselor training. Dr. Henesy is committed to advancing these areas through her scholarly work and practical application, aiming to create more inclusive and effective counseling practices. With a robust background as a clinician in various community settings, Dr. Henesy has specialized in working with individuals, couples, and families. Her clinical expertise extends to crisis intervention, complex trauma, and autism, allowing her to address a wide range of mental health challenges with sensitivity and skill. Her approach is informed by her dedication to understanding the unique experiences and needs of her clients. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Henesy is passionate about training the next generation of counselors.
