

Keyao Pan
Dr. Keyao "Kyle" Pan, an Assistant Professor in History at the Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs at Florida International University, holds a Ph.D. in History from the University of Chicago. His research specializes in the history of discourse and activism on rights, particularly human rights, in Japan and Asia. Dr. Pan's work explores the evolving concept of "jinken" (human rights) in Japan over the last century and a half, examining its potential for understanding Japan's position within empires. Additionally, he is developing a network database of historical justice activism in Japan and Asia using digital tools, focusing on the transnational reparations movement for Japan's colonial and wartime atrocities.
